| There a several brands of waterless urinals on the market today and they all work on the same basic principle. A liquid seal, commonly called an odor barrier is used to trap the urine and force it into the drain line. The liquid seal prevents any odors from coming through the urinal back into the restroom. While most of the waterless urinals look the same, the major differences lie in the design and engineering of the traps or cartridges. This is what holds the odor barrier. Cartridge Removal
Not only does this have to be done less frequently with the
Zeroflush, but the process is much simpler and less messy. For
example, when the Falcon cartridge is removed, it is full of urine.
But when the Zeroflush insert is removed, the urine has already
flown down the drain.
Cartridge Reinstallation
Reinstalling the Falcon cartridge is an involved 5 step process.
This includes inserting the cartridge, locking it into place, adding
the odor barrier, adding water and snapping the debris catcher
into place. But with the Zeroflush, you simply push the new
insert into the drain and pour in the bottle of odor barrier and you
are set for another 15,000 uses.
Cleaning
If a maintenance person were to use water with a Falcon unit, all
of the odor barrier would be washed away and a new cartridge
would have to be installed. But with the Zeroflush, even
dumping an entire bucket of water down the urinal would have no
effect.
